Panaji, Citizens will soon be able to book railway tickets from the post office. In a bid to make ticket bookings more accessible for the public, Indian Railways have tied-up with India Post for this initiative.
Charles Lobo, postmaster general, Goa region told “Initially, this facility will be available at the Cuncolim and Raia post offices. While the Raia post office is ready to roll out the facility, the Cuncolim post office is being shifted to a new building and should be ready soon.”
“The hardware and software is to be installed by the Indian Railways. They will also provide some training o the postmasters of the post offices where the facility will be provided,” said Lobo. “On our part, we are ready and the service should begin in the next fortnight,” he added.
He said the railways were rolling out the service gradually after accessing the areas where it would have an impact
