Centre allows premature closure of PPF account

In a significant move, the Finance Ministry has allowed subscribers of the Public Provident Fund (PPF) to prematurely close their accounts after a minimum of five years for reasons such as higher education or expenditure towards medical treatment.

The Finance Ministry has also retained the interest rates on all small saving products for the second quarter of the fiscal.

On PPF, the Ministry, in a notification, said, the subscribers can close the account if “the amount is required for serious ailments or life threatening diseases of the accountholder, spouse, dependent children or parents…or the amount is needed for higher education of the account holder or the minor account holder.” It further added that supporting documents and bills will have to be produced.

Boosted IP Line is struggling hard and harder and Drenched Supervisory Line is sleeping enough to loss all their rights!!!

Dear Postmasters,

If not now then never.  Lets organise and discuss this on 03.07.2016 Circle level meet at Cuddalore

All Sr.PM posts upto presidency PMs and 50% PSS Group B posts should be granted to supervisors

IP/ASP association is conveyed their strong objection against the proposed PSS group B/Sr.PM cadre recruitment rules that they are losing their promotional opportunities in PSS group B/Sr.PM post because of the invasion of Postmaster cadre.

But the fact is on other way. To create the awareness among general line people, facts are collected and published.

Friends lets fight together to get the equal opportunities at par with IP line. If both IP line and supervisory line is nourished in equal way then only department will grow better and better.

In coming days, the role of all employees, including Grameen Dak Sevaks, will be very significant - Ravi Shankar Prasad

"In coming days, the role of all employees, including Grameen Dak Sevaks, will be very significant, Postman has a vital emotional connect and is almost part of every family in villages- Telecom and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today said in a letter to all postal employees

Government is firming up plans to set up 650 branches of India Post Payments Bank at all major district headquarters by September 2017, Telecom and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today said in a letter to all postal employees.

"The India Post Payments Bank shall be set up with an investment of Rs 800 crore. The plan is to roll out 650 branches at all major district headquarters so that it may leverage the extensive outreach of the Department of Posts," Prasad said in the letter.

The Cabinet on June 2 cleared the proposal to set up India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) with a corpus of Rs 800 crore and a plan for 650 branches operational by September 2017. It will be scaled up further to cover the entire country by the end of 2018-19.

"The Prime Minister has urged that these 650 branches shall be made fully functional by September 2017," Prasad said.

DoP is gearing up to launch the payments bank with a workforce of 3.5 lakh.

Prasad, in his letter, reached out to all postal employees for support.

"I earnestly appeal to all employees of the department and the Grameen Dak Sevaks to take pride and ownership in establishing the India Post Payments Bank which truly serves the cause of Antyodaya - serving the last man standing," he said.

He reasoned that the postman has a vital emotional connect and is almost part of every family in villages.
