Madam

During the discussions on Strike Charter, we were asked to submit a note on the above subject when we pointed out the fact that many deserving cases are not being considered for compassionate appointment and the wards are undergoing untold hardship/misery.  They are virtually in streets, craving for help.

An example of a case of Sri Ashok s/o Late Gopalakrishna, GDSMP, Agumbe in Shimoga Dn of Karnataka Circle was quoted.  The family condition is as follows.

Working On Your Computer In Healthy Way

Follow some basic tips to work in a better way on your computer. Do not work in total darkness where the computer screen is the only source of light, especially if you have to type or copy from a printed document.
Ensure that the keyboard and the document you are typing from are adequately lit up. The keys and letters should be visible and they should appear in focus when you look at them. If you are looking at a sheet of paper while typing, keep a paper holder adjacent to the monitor and ensure the letters are visible. Contrast also affects visibility. Black letters on a white background are the easiest to read as opposed to light lettering on a dark background.
Set the contrast correctly for your monitor, too. Outrageous colours such as red letters on a gray background are painful to even stare at. Set your desktop screen to a subtle colour and avoid pictures and graphics with fluorescent colours.

Introduction of facility of automatic credit of PLI/ RPLI monthly premium from savings account of insured persons.

Copy of PLI Directorate letter No. 29-08/2009-LI (Pt) dated 25.10.2012

To
All Heads of Circles
Addl. DG (APS)

Sub: Introduction of facility of automatic credit of PLI/ RPLI monthly premium from savings account of insured persons.

In the last few years, there has been massive expansion of Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI). However, it has been noticed that a number of policies particularly in RPLI lapse after a while. One of the reasons for lapsation is absence of convenient ways of depositing premia of the policy(ies). As such, it was under consideration of the Department to provide facility of automatic deduction of premia from Savings Account so that (i) the policy holder(s) need not have to visit Post Office every month for depositing premia of his PLI/ RPLI policy and (ii) lapsation of PLI/ RPLI policies gets reduced.

How Project Arrow can modernise the department of posts

One minister, one department, one contract, one winner - but many lobbies. This, in essence, sums up the reason why Project Arrow, which sought to change the face of India's department of posts (DoP) - a department that normally does not figure in the vision of most policymakers and decision-takers - appears to have gone into a limbo. It is also a project that the Union government hoped would take inclusive growth in the country to another level.

At the heart of this modernisation project was the Core System Integrator (CSI) contract for which three companies - HP, TCS and HCL Technologies - had been shortlisted. In fact, it was in January this year that the technical evaluation for the project was completed and HP emerged the lowest bidder. But doing business in India is never easy, as has emerged in the recent round of corruption scandals that are rocking the government.
