Agent Commission on Savings Schemes
The payment of commission to agents of Public Provident Fund (PPF) Scheme and Senior Citizens Savings Scheme has been discontinued, with effect from 1st December, 2011. Commission under all other schemes (except MPKBY Agents) has been reduced from 1% to 0.5%. However, commission to Mahila Pradhan Kshetriya Bachat Yojana (MPKBY) agents will continue at the existing rate of 4%.
Revision of Honorarium for Invigilation, Setting of Question Papers,Valuation etc for Limited Departmental Competitive Exams
Postal Directorate has revised the rates of Honorarium in connection with conducting of Limited Departmental Competitive Examinations Vide letter no A.34020/17/2008-DE dated 26.04.2012. The revised rates will apply to all Limited Departmental Competitive Examinations to be held on or after 26.04.2012.

Professional Tax for Central Government Employees
The revised rates of Professional Tax in Tamil Nadu.
Professional Tax is collected from the employees as per the table, which is given below.
Half year shall be from the 1st day of April to the 30th day of September and from the second half year 1st day of October to the 31st day of March of a year.

The Government plans to set up 1000 Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and carry out computerization of Post Offices in the country as part of its ongoing modernization and upgradation drive.
The Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Shri Sachin Pilot informed the Lok Sabha today that the Department of Posts proposes to set up 1000 ATMs. 820 Head Post Offices have been identified for setting up ATMs across the country. Shri Pilot said that remaining 180 Post Offices will be identified during implementation phase. Of these a maximum 100 ATMs would be set up in Andhra Pradesh.

Educational loan to Minorities
New Delhi, April 24, 2012(PIB): India Banks’ Association (IBA) has circulated revised Model Educational Loan Scheme to its member banks. Banks can adopt the scheme with discretion to make changes as deemed fit. The scheme is for all students including students from minority communities.
Indian Nationals who have secured admission to professional/technical courses in India or abroad through an entrance test/merit based selection process are eligible for educational loans under the scheme.

It has been decided by the Ministry of External affairs New Delhi that the present modality of delivering the speed post artilce containing Pass port "either to the addressee or his/her authorised representative on behalf of the addressee" is the most viable one and will be continued for Passport delivery system. The said decision has been comminucated vide Department of Posts OM no: 57-01/2010-BD & MD dtd 11-04-2011.
